Основната мисия на този проект е ученици от Северозападна България да „маркират” 4 града от региона, като намерят следи и спомени от 1989 и така по свой начин да преоткрият 1989 като интересна тема, която си струва да бъде изследвана. Младите хора днес трябва да се справят с дилемите на своите родители, затова този проект цели да инициира диалог по неизговорените проблеми на 1989, за да разберат те по свой собствен и творчески начин, какво точно се е случило тогава.
Близкото минало е непознато. От всяко едно младо поколение зависи как ще го „открие”, разбере и преживее. Ние вярваме, че можем да го преоткрием чрез творчески процес, в който да ангажираме младите в дискусии, дебати с известни писатели, актьори, журналисти. Като им представим различни подходи към историята и личния спомен и ги провокираме да работят и творят на техен език – камери, компютри, графити и т.н. – за да маркират своите собствени градове. Проектът ще провокира и важния диалог между поколенията и има ясен резултат –истинска карта „на открито”, отворен музей на спомените от 1989 в четири северозападни града – Видин, Монтана, Враца и Вършец.

THE PROJECT
The main goal of this project is students from Northwest Bulgaria to map 4 Northwestern cities by finding signs of memories of 1989 in those cities and thus to discover 1989 as an interesting topic that is worth to be explored and learnt.
The main goal of this project is students from Northwest Bulgaria to map 4 Northwestern cities by finding and remaking signs of memories of 1989 in those cities and thus to discover 1989 as an interesting topic that is worth to be explored and learnt.
As the young people are those who have to deal with their parents dilemmas, this project is meant to identify the 1989 problems and to help those young people to understand in their own and creative way what has really happened in 1989.
The recent past is unknown. It depends on every young generation to discover it in its own terms, to remake it so to understand it and live with it. We believe to discover the recent past is a creative process.
We will involve the young people in this creative process, in discussions and debates with well-known writers, artists, journalists, introduce them to different approaches on history and memory, and finally, make them work and create with their own language – computers, graffiti etc – to map their own cities. The project will launch also the so important conversation between generations. And has a clear outcome – will lay down in a real open-air “map”, open-air museum of the signs of 1989 in 4 Northwestern cities – Vidin, Montana, Vratza and Varshetz.
